Swinton strikes hard in the compelling new Pringle A/W12 Campaign

Sophisticated, surreal, suave, and synonymously seductive is the combined duo of Pringle and Swinton after the brand swooned to her, once again, for the sizzling new campaign for the luxury Scottish brand.

Cutting-edge outer-worldly beauty can only describe Swinton’s penetratingly straight basin cut quoted by the actress as her very own ‘warrior girl fringe’. The design was specifically cut for the shoot and photographed by none other than imagery genius Walter Pfeiffer. It makes sense that Swinton will be at the forefront for yet another campaign (that’s three campaigns now Swinton will have done with Pringle). The actress-muse-thinker-chameleon-alien, as Hint Mag writer Lee Carter so aptly describes her, represents an idealistic Scotswoman propelled by fundamental beauty and righteousness, considers the prospect of conforming almost an anathema, and describes the decision to work with Pringle ‘indecently easy to accept’. Here you have your muse.

Combine these factors with Clare Waight Keller’s designs and incorporate Swiss art photographer Walter Pfeiffer into the picture and here is a fashion brand that oozes personality. StyleFile reported Swinton saying, “It [shooting the Pringle of Scotland campaign] is no different from preparing for a film role ... Choose clothes. Dress up and play.”

The collection – the last by the coveted creative director Keller – is without doubt an inimitable celebration of Scottish arts and crafts and yet another compelling work of art to be drooled over. Pringle continue to cement their place as a luxury international brand. To understand the collection, think cashmere, silk and fur wound intoxicatingly into pure pleasurable delights. And to see them on Swinton makes the release date of late July seem like a million years away. But patience is a virtue and no second guessing where our mitts will be when the collection is released – www.pringlescotland.com

On a further note, as Keller steps aside, Central Saint Martin’s graduate and ex-Balenciaga atelier wunderkind, Alistair Carr enters the Pringle family to dish up a whole new pallet of deigns for the brand. One month’s time and we will be seeing his debut collection at Milan Men’s Fashion Week. Bring on Spring/Summer 2012 Pringle! And to de-political-jumble-fy Pringle chief executive, Jean Fang’s assessment of Alistair Carr … he’s the bees knees of the business, the ying to our yang, and just the brains we need to create luxury cutting-edge designs that will propel Pringle of the planet in the fashion sphere. You’ve got your work cut out for you Carr, but at least you’ll always have Swinton to dress.
